She knows me so well

There are very few people who seem to know me, the real me.  But there is a little 4 year old who seems to know everything about me.  Saturday night I received a call asking if my grand daughter could stop by for a few minutes.  The answer was “Of course” as I enjoy her visits.

By now you probably know that nature is important to me.  I am most at home in the wild outdoors.  I even bring little things indoors to keep close.  My home is decorated with things that represent nature or are from nature itself.

There is the small hurricane glass which holds the feathers dropped at my door each year.

My mandala

Living plants

My twigs

My rock collection on my desk

My owl print

And who can forget my tree branch that will be my Christmas tree this year?

So how well does my grand daughter know me?  She spotted this at the store and told her mom I had to have it, because I would think it was pretty.

She was right.  I love it. In among all the colorful Christmas ornaments some gaudy (IMO) others just cheesy, it was this one that is clearly not something that can only be displayed for Christmas that she wanted to give me, nor is it an ornament most would associate with the traditional ornaments.   It’s already on the tree and while she told me it’s a Christmas ornament I’m going to have a hard time packing this away when the holidays are over.

I know I haven’t unpacked any ornaments yet, but doesn’t this look fantastic on the tree, like it was made for it.

Is there one person in your life that knows you so well it seems as if they might know you better than you know yourself?

As each day comes to us refreshed and anew, so does my gratitude renew itself daily.  The breaking of the sun over the horizon is my grateful heart dawning upon a blessed world. ~~ Terri Guillemets

    • You are fortunate and I love hearing about your family as you all sound so close, loving and filled with fun and laughter. It was an amazing gift, but not unusual for her. I am amazed by how my children are raising their children, they have modeled the behavior they want to see in their children. Because the children come first, as I believe they should be, the children enjoy giving back to share those feelings they get. She shares just about everything, except with her brother 🙂

  1. That is a beautiful ornament! So simple. My oldest daughter and I will sometimes say the exact same thing at the exact same time. Then we laugh at the same time and then we both say, “Oh NO!” Then I remind her I turned out just like Gramma and she’s going to too. She will laugh so hard and say, “I KNOW!”

My mom was an exquisite, outspoken, eccentric, crazy lady! It is our destiny to follow in her footsteps

    • This made me smile. I always wished I had at least one daughter to share those girl things with, although I am not very girly. I think it was mainly because I wanted to some how create a relationship with a daughter I didn’t have with my mother. But I do have a daughter-in-law who is as close to me as if she were my own.

Isn’t it great to know you will be outspoken and eccentric while embracing that?

As for the ornament, besides bringing some natural element it is the simplicity that attracts me.

    • Growing up in the city, directly across the street a family raised peacocks. I loved the sounds but it drove my grandparents crazy. I would take the noise of any animal over loud vehicles.

Yes, my son and his wife live only 2.3 miles from my apartment, walking distance even for the little ones!

  2. I am a nature girl, too. Although – I wear make-up and don’t look all that natural – my home has lots of natural elements from out of doors. Makes me feel good. This is my first time to your blog – very nice to be here. Thanks for commenting on my door display…:)
    Have a fun week!

    • I love your door display!! Glad you stopped by. I have always been drawn to nature and have been more simple than my peers when younger, but being a licensed cosmetologist formed a pattern of having perfect hair and make-up that I only broke about 15 years ago. Now the only make-up I wear is a little mascara for special occasions. I think what has drawn me to your blog are the natural elements in your home, it feels comfortable, a place I would enjoy meeting and having a cup of tea and good conversation with you in.

I'd love to hear your thoughts, won't you please tell me what's on your mind?
